Dr. Scott Zashin takes an engaged, personal approach in caring for his arthritis patients. His style is unique for both the amount of time that he willingly spends with his patients, and the sincerity with which he gives care and advice.

Dr. Zashin uses advanced medical techniques and the latest pharmaceutical treatments in his practice. His professorship at UT Southwestern Medical School, as well as his affiliation with professional organizations and involvement in clinical trials, ensures that he is at the forefront of advances in Rheumatology.

In addition to medical breakthroughs that have dramatically improved the lives of many of his patients — such as TNF blockers — Dr. Zashin has also seen some patients benefit from alternative medicine and non-pharmacological treatments in conjunction with conventional therapies.

As a result, Dr. Zashin never automatically dismisses the potential benefit of an alternative treatment. Rather, if you are interested in an alternative therapy, he works with his patients develop the best treatment plan for your condition. His goal for every patient is to identify the best, safest and most effective therapy to reduce pain, increase function, and potentially improve your quality of life.

Dr. Zashin has been selected as a top doctor in Dallas (D Magazine), Texas (Texas Monthly) and the United States since 1996 (US News and World Report; Woodward and White: Castle Connolly).

A native of Short Hills, New Jersey, Dr. Zashin earned his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and his medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School. He completed residencies in rheumatology and internal medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, Texas. Dr. Zashin is board-certified in both rheumatology and internal medicine by the American Board of Rheumatology and the American Board of Internal Medicine, respectively. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society.

Currently, Dr. Zashin is a clinical professor of internal medicine in the rheumatology division at UT Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He maintains a private-practice in Rheumatalogy at the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas where he has practiced since 1989. He is an active advocate for people with arthritis. He served as President of the Lupus Foundation’s North Texas chapter, and as a board member of the Arthritis Foundation and Lupus Foundation in North Texas.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Zashin is currently invovled with admissions for Dartmouth College in North Texas as enrollment director.  Dr. Zashin is married and has two teenage daughters.
